God’s Scandalous Grace
My friend Keith pointed me to this page of wonderful quotes by the late Mike Yaconelli. As I continue my journey of truly seeking after Jesus I learn more and more about His true nature, and how different Jesus is than many churches make him out to be.
Here is a great quote to ponder today:
The grace of God is dangerous. It’s lavish, excessive, outrageous, and scandalous. God’s grace is ridiculously inclusive. Apparently God doesn’t care who He loves. He is not very careful about the people He calls His friends or the people He calls His church.

Reminds me of a book by an Aussie theologian/author (I think theologian might be too impressive a title for him, but he does lecture at a bible college here)… It was called “Jesus the Fool” and if you can get past the title, it presents Jesus as a man who was completely outside the box. We’ve reduced him to a manageable little box and in the process we’ve sold ourselves short. I read it years ago and remember being delighted with the earthy yet cutting edge Jesus I re/discovered. (By Michael Frost if you’re interested) Might not be the pithy quote type of title though – can’t remember that much of the specifics!
