Breaking the Silence
Things have been quiet here on the blog, as any of you who are still reading may have noticed. Life has gone on, with parenting and pedicures, cuddly boys and cat pee, celebrations and re-calibrations.
Over the last 6 months, while I’ve been avoiding posting, I’ve been thinking about my blog a lot.
I went back to work this year as a teacher, and loved nearly every minute of it. It was a big adjustment to go back not just to the “working world”, but also the “public world”. I’m no senator or superstar, but teachers’ lives are more public than many. I am held (legally and morally) to a “higher standard”. I teach young, impressionable - and sometimes insensitive - minds. I’ve had to consider how much of myself I wanted “out there” for anyone to see. What of what I posted would I not want announced by a student in the classroom? What would I not want a parent to see? What would make me more vulnerable than I want to be?
I considered pulling down the whole blog – and nearly did more than once. (I DID decide to pull my other blog, for more reasons than just my privacy). I carefully mentioned very little about my job (a wise idea in any circumstance). I thought about culling selected posts. I thought about some things I wanted to write about and then chose specifically not to because of my public life. In the end, I did nothing, because I couldn’t decide.
I’ve now been gifted with a weekend to myself out of the blue and am pulling thoughts together, praying, and contemplating the next steps here. Over the next couple weeks, I’ll be slowly putting one pedicured foot in front of the other. Thanks for sharing in the journey. It's always an adventure to see where I end up.

Who am I?
