Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich with Bites from erandell498′s photostream Both my kids are picky eaters. Peter is pickiest of all – he pretty much just eats pancakes, hamburgers, and protein bars. Sometimes I worry about this, fearing it’s all my fault. I watch kids who scarf down shrimp, hummus, and broccoli and stare, mesmerized. [...]

Scene: in the car, listening to my kids bicker for the fifty thousandth time. Me (in my most exasperated, threatening, “Do I Need to Pull This Car Over?” tone of voice): If you hit your brother with that stick one more time, I’m going to have to take it away! 3-year-old Peter (in the EXACT [...]

Henry and Jango It’s so cute to watch my boy hold his kittenso tenderly. Hey – you’ve been on the ground for 3 hours after flying home from 10 days in China. Wouldn’t this be a great time to adopt a kitten?! Our babysitter’s cat had kittens on Father’s Day. Henry spent so much time [...]

Henry (while jumping around on my bed): Hey Mom, what kind of bed is this again? Is this a King bed? Or is it a Queen bed? Me: It’s a King bed. Henry: And what kind of bed do I have again? It’s a Prince, right?

We’ve been having fun here making homemade ice cream. It’s so fun, and the kids love it (and so do we, and our friends!). Unfortunately, it’s not very conducive to weight loss, so this needs to be our last ice cream extravaganza for a while. I’ll post some recipes in another day or so, along [...]

My 2-year-old Peter is full of spunk. He wears his pirate hat to music recitals and takes his baseball mitt to bed. Here he is sporting his hat, pirate shirt, and his I-can-put-them-on-by-myself- so-I-wear-them-every-day boots. I called him Mr. Sneakboots one day when he was playing the “take Mommy’s cellphone” game and we started laughing. [...]
